PRESS RELEASE YSAU ENTREPRENEURS SET TO PARTICIPATE AT GITEX AFRICA 2023 IN MOROCCO

Hive Colab Kampala Friday 26th May 2023, The Youth Startup Academy Uganda (YSAU), a pioneering initiative aimed at fostering youth-led entrepreneurship and economic development, proudly announces the participation of 10 of its startups in the highly anticipated launch edition of GITEX AFRICA 2023. This prestigious event, taking place from 31st May to 2nd June in Marrakech, Morocco, brings together tech enthusiasts, startups, investors, and industry leaders from across the globe. YSAU's presence at GITEX Africa showcases its commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs and amplifying their impact within the innovation ecosystem.

The Youth Startup Academy Uganda (YSAU) is a joint effort between the International Trade Centre, Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME), National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U) and Hive Colab. The YSAU follows the success of the same program in the Republic of Korea, implemented by KOSME. The YSAU is the first overseas incubation hub of the Youth Startup Academy and the project’s goal is to provide comprehensive incubation and facility to 1,000 young entrepreneurs and improve the start-up ecosystem in Uganda.

GITEX Africa, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and in partnership with the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, hosted by the Digital Development Agency (ADD), is set to become the largest tech and startup show on the African continent, and the second largest in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, following GITEX GLOBAL in Dubai, the world's largest gathering of its kind.

By participating in GITEX Africa, YSAU positions itself as a pivotal player in the region's digital transformation journey. The event serves as a dynamic platform for showcasing the accomplishments and opportunities within Uganda's innovation ecosystem, while also strategically connecting the YSAU startups with the global tech landscape spanning over 80 countries. This integration empowers Uganda to play a vital role in the global entrepreneurial innovation economy.

The Programs and Projects lead Hive Colab, Ms. Dona Sava, said “We are committed to improving the startup ecosystem for young entrepreneurs in Uganda by providing incubation, coaching and mentorship to the youth which in return will drive innovation and job creation in the Country.” She reiterated that the 10 startups that will be participating in the GITEX Africa, are some of the fruits of the partnership between the ITC, KOSME, NITA-U and HiveColab.

GITEX Africa offers the YSAU startups unparalleled networking opportunities, forging powerful connections and valuable relationships. With the participation of over 900 exhibiting tech companies and startups, 30+ government delegations, 250+ global investors, and 250 international speakers, the event attracts tens of thousands of tech executives from 100+ countries, many of whom will be visiting Morocco and Africa for the first time.
